Hotel eyed for Mount Horeb
United Development Solutions of Minnesota and GrandStay Hospitality are proposing a $4.8 million, 50-room hotel in Mount Horeb near the Highway 18-151 exit into the village.
An investor group is being assembled to finance the project with the hope that construction can begin this summer so the hotel can open later this year. At last tally, the group had raised more than half of the $1.2 million it needs to move the project forward. The investors will determine whether the hotel will be a GrandStay property or another brand.
The hotel is being touted as a local tourism and business booster, but with the Epic campus just minutes away, it could cater to some of Epic’s visitors as well.
No formal proposal has been submitted yet, but the village is interested, according to reports. The hotel would help Mount Horeb absorb rising debt costs associated with a TIF district it created just before the housing market crashed.
