Home sweet home
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County welcomed Rosario and her son, Grant, to their new Habitat home in Fitchburg on March 8. Prior to breaking ground on the construction site, staff members from Erdman built the home frame in their parking lot. The frame was then moved over to its permanent location in Fitchburg, where members of Asbury United Methodist Church and Bethany United Methodist Church, both in Madison; The Church at Christ Memorial in Fitchburg; Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Verona; McFarland Lutheran Church in McFarland and Peoples United Methodist Church in Oregon then joined together to not only fund raise, but build on the construction site. During the home-building process, Rosario took educational courses preparing her for homeownership and completed 325 hours on the construction site building her home. This home is the 14th Habitat home in Fitchburg’s Renaissance on the Park neighborhood. Twenty more Habitat homes are scheduled to be built in the neighborhood by 2021.
