Home sales strong, prices up
There were 336 reported sales of single-family homes and condo sales in January 2017, starting the year off strong after a record-setting 2016, according to the South Central Wisconsin MLS.
Dane County inventory is tighter than ever, however, with only 523 new listings reported in January compared to 637 a year ago and 593 in 2015.
Active residential listings in January numbered 1,024 in Dane County, down from 1,433 in January 2016, and that reflected on the average sale price, which has increased from $245,429 in January 2015 to $271,152 this year.
The median sale price has experienced a similar increase from 2015’s $217,500 to $240,000 in January 2017.
