Holstein head charged in embezzlement case

Larry P. Nelson of Fitchburg, the former executive director of the Wisconsin Holstein Association, has been charged with embezzling more than $15,000 from the Baraboo organization.

Staff found evidence that Nelson had been using his organization credit card for entertainment, travel, and lodging not associated with the nonprofit.

Nelson left the organization in 2016 to join Filament, a Madison-based agricultural marketing firm, and has denied the charges, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
