Hilldale receives rezoning approval for expansion

The Madison City Council rezoned an area south of Hilldale Shopping Center on Tuesday, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

The rezoning will allow for the 2025 construction of a mix of commercial and residential buildings on a site at 401 N. Segoe Road occupied currently by a BMO Harris Bank and parking lot. The city’s Plan Commission approved demolition of the bank in early 2022.

The first commercial building, around 17,000 square feet with a single story, will be located at the southwestern corner of Price Place and Heather Crest; the second commercial building, three stories and roughly 54,000 square feet, will be constructed on the south side of Heather Crest.

A six-story residential building will be constructed on the north side of Vernon Boulevard; it is set to have 100 units and space for commercial tenants.

The Hilldale expansion plans also include a circular lawn along Kelab Drive that will be an open space for concerts and ice skating.
