Highways 18/151, 113 construction likely to impact commutes
Construction began this week on portions of Highway 18/151 as well as Highway 113 in Dane County, closing parts of roadways and reducing traffic to one lane in others, which will likely extend morning and evening drive time for motorists, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
The Highway 18/151 project will reconstruct deteriorated pavement on 18/151 and adjacent ramps between Town Hall Road in Mount Horeb and Fitchrona Road in Fitchburg with concrete base patching and an asphalt overlay and include an extended right turn lane along the westbound off ramp to Highway PB.
Highway 18/151 will remain open to traffic with single-lane closures for the duration of the project, which is scheduled for completion by June 2024.
Work along Highway 113 between Knutson Drive in Madison and Wisconsin 19 in Waunakee will replace deteriorating pavement along a 3.4-mile-long stretch, along with adding new traffic signals at the River Road intersection and reconstructing the Arboretum Drive/Bong Road intersection into a single-lane roundabout.
That project is expected to be completed in September. Until then, Highway 113 will be closed and detoured using Highway 151, Interstate 39/90/94, and Highway 19.
