Grocers buy Shopko pharmacies

Shortly after Shopko announced it would be closing pharmacies across 19 states by the end of February, Kroger announced plans to purchase the pharmacy records of 42 Shopko pharmacies, including 25 in Wisconsin. Kroger is the parent of Roundy’s, which includes Pick’n Save, Metro Market, and Copps grocery stores.

Iowa-based Hy-Vee then announced it would purchase another 22 Shopko pharmacies across six states, including one Wisconsin location near West Towne Mall on Mineral Point Road. Those patient records will be transferred to the West Towne Hy-Vee pharmacy today, Dec. 18.
