Governor’s Business Plan Contest accepting online entries

The Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest is now accepting entries online for the 2014 contest.

Applications will be accepted at www.govsbizplancontest.com until 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.

The contest, now in its 11th year, is designed to encourage entrepreneurs in the seed, startup, and early-growth stages of Wisconsin high-tech businesses.

Since its inception in 2004, more than 2,600 entries have been received and about $1.7 million in cash and business services have been awarded.

The top 12 executive summaries will compete for the 2014 grand prize during the annual Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Conference on June 3 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

Last year’s overall winner was NitricGen, Inc., a Madison-based technology startup that earlier had won in the Life Sciences category. The company is developing a medical device that produces nitric oxide from room air for the healing of foot ulcers, a complication of diabetes.
