Gloria Reyes launches mayoral bid

Former deputy mayor, Madison School Board president, and police officer Gloria Reyes announced she is running for Madison mayor, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Reyes promised a grassroots campaign centered on public safety, economic development, education, housing, homelessness, and the environment. Reyes has experience as CEO of Briarpatch Youth Services, a member of the Madison School Board, including two years as board president, deputy mayor under Paul Soglin, and a member of the Madison Police Department from 2002 to 2015. If successful, Reyes would be Madison’s first Hispanic mayor.
