Generac announces $8 to $10 million expansion

To create more jobs and drive innovation, Generac Power Systems announced it will spend from $8 million to $10 million to expand and remodel its headquarters and to create a technical center.

Generac, a manufacturer of back up power generation equipment, plans to spend $5 to $6 million on the expansion and remodeling, and another $3 to $4 million on the new technical center. The technical center will be designed for research, development, and engine testing.

CEO Aaron Jagdfeld said the move to expand is prompted by the growing demand for power generation equipment.

“We have been growing rapidly over the last decade, and this expansion will give us the flexibility and space to not only add to our tem, but will create a space to allow the best engineers and technicians in our field to innovate and develop tomorrow’s technology in our industry,” he said in a press release.

Generac now employs 550 people at its Waukesha headquarters and 2,300 overall. The company plans to add another 200 to its workforce over the next three years.
