French plastics company expands in Portage

Saint-Cobain Performance Plastics, a global plastics company, announced May 27 it was embarking on an $11.5 million expansion of its plant in Portage, with the help of $700,000 in state tax credits.

The 48,000-square-foot expansion of the facility, which makes custom silicone and thermoplastic products for medical device companies, is expected to add 42 jobs to its 300-member Portage workforce.

The company set early 2016 as the timetable for the expansion to be completed.
