Foxconn Madison?

Foxconn, the Taiwanese company planning to bring its massive flat-screen display factory to Wisconsin, is also considering the Madison area for a second development that could be related to cancer research.

Foxconn CEO and founder Terry Gou lost a wife and brother to cancer, and representatives of the company’s medical group have already met with representatives at UW–Madison’s Carbone Cancer Center, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

There are no guarantees that an offer will come, but the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel cites sources close to the discussions who suggest the company could be considering a research and development site, an operation connected with medical imaging, and a business related to wearables that can track a consumer’s vital statistics.

UPDATE: Madison Mayor Paul Soglin is recommending the shuttered Oscar Mayer plant on the city's east side as a potential location for Foxconn, should the company decide to expand to a second location, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
