Fox Point’s Cardinal Stritch University closing at spring semester’s end

After 86 years, Catholic liberal arts college Cardinal Stritch University of Fox Point, Wisconsin is closing. According to a report from the Associated Press today, the closure is necessitated by recent financial strain on the university, along with unmet resource needs, operational and facility challenges, and downward enrollment trends in the post-pandemic era. In fact, federal data cited by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel showed a drop in student enrollment from 2,400 in 2018 to 1,400 in 2021. In a video statement yesterday, University President Dan Scholz said all programs would end by May 22, with a final graduation ceremony May 21.
