Fittest Exec challenger relies on (boot camp) drills
Nearly 30 top-level professionals are competing in the second annual Fittest Executive Challenge, presented by In Business magazine. Who will earn the healthiest marks? Find out at the In Business Expo & Conference on Oct. 23.
This week, Alanna Wirtz, a dentist and owner of Madison Family Dental Associates, gives a brief rundown of her experiences in the “Women Under 50” challenge.
We all know the importance of physical fitness, but the difficult part is trying to find the time. I have a busy life, like most everyone I know.
I have found that getting up at 4:45 a.m. to exercise is the only way I can truly enjoy my workouts and not feel guilty. I am the mother of four kids, ages 2, 4, 6, and 8, and yes I am a good planner! In addition, I am a dentist who also owns a dental clinic. So I am busy.
I have recently switched from running in the morning to doing boot camp workouts. I have enjoyed the group atmosphere of the boot camps and also love the entire-body workout. The workouts are only 45 minutes. I start the workout at 5:30 a.m. and can be showered and ready to see patients at 7. By the time my day is done I can hardly remember working out in the morning, and I can go home and spend the night with my husband and kids.
