Fitchburg unveils six BCycle stations in push toward citywide bike-friendliness
An article from the Fitchburg Star announced the launch of six BCycle stations throughout the community. BCycle is a national bike-share provider owned by Trek Bikes and based in Madison. The new Fitchburg stations are intended as the first set of many.
The unveiling of the new BCycle stations represents Fitchburg’s ongoing efforts to increase bike-friendliness. Some of the city’s main goals include increasing the availability of sustainable transport as an alternative to cars and providing inclusive transport that is low cost and meets all levels of ability. Recent consideration has led to higher focus on senior cyclists.
Long-term plans for the bike-share may include further transportation to and interconnection with the city of Madison.
