Fisker plans to build EVs at Foxconn site hit snag
State rules barring automakers from selling directly to consumers have emerged as a stumbling block for Fisker Inc.’s plans to make low-cost electric vehicles at Foxconn’s industrial site in Mount Pleasant, according to a new report from Forbes.
In May, Fisker announced it was reviewing four potential sites to produce EVs. The Wisconsin site is considered ideal, but with state laws allowing only franchise car dealers to sell vehicles, the company is looking at other sites. CEO Henrik Fisker says if the state of Wisconsin changed the law, “they would be in the lead” if Foxconn formally agreed to build EVs at the site.
