Find your bliss at the IB Expo

From the pages of In Business magazine.

What does the word bliss mean to you? Well, Merriam-Webster dictionary defines bliss as complete happiness. So my question for you is, have you found complete happiness in your life? And since we all spend such a large percentage of our waking hours at work, have you found bliss in your career?

If you aren’t sure how to answer that question, or if you can safely say that you have not yet found bliss in your career, I would strongly encourage you to register for the keynote presentation at the IB Expo & Conference (Oct. 23 at the Alliant Energy Center).

J.P. Hansen, award-winning author of The Bliss List (and a Madison native), will be our keynote speaker this year. He has held executive-level positions at companies such as Nestlé, Bristol-Myers Squibb, SC Johnson & Son, and ConAgra Foods and is currently CEO of an executive search company based out of Omaha, Neb. J.P. will help you identify what truly brings bliss to your life and will offer practical steps toward finding the dream job that will define your bliss.

Certainly, our intent is not to have everyone turning in their two-weeks’ notice after hearing J.P. speak at the expo! Perhaps your dream job is right in front of you with your current employer but in a different capacity. Maybe you’ll find clarity in discovering that your current job is already fulfilling you and bringing you happiness.

I would also encourage managers and executives to attend the presentation. Even if you’ve already found that bliss-filled “dream job,” this presentation will provide some practical tools that may help you retain key employees by identifying what brings them bliss and shaping their job around those things.

Hansen’s keynote presentation will be a great kickoff to what will be an extraordinary day of business activity at the IB Expo & Conference. Join more than 110 of the finest area companies exhibiting and showcasing their products and services; participate in three different business awards programs; sit in on business seminars on the expo floor; network with more than 1,200 professional attendees, and much more!

The Expo Guide is poly-bagged with this October edition of IB. It will give you a comprehensive look at everything happening that day. Most importantly, be sure to register for the expo at
MadisonBusinessExpo.com by Wednesday, Oct. 16. You’ll pay a nominal fee to attend either the keynote breakfast or the CFO Awards lunch (both include hot meals), but the rest of this mega-event is free.

In addition, IB has partnered with Barnes & Noble to offer expo registrants a 20% discount on The Bliss List. Just present a copy of your expo registration when purchasing the book at either the East Towne Mall or West Towne Mall locations. This offer extends only to purchases made prior to the expo.

I hope to see you all on Oct. 23 for what promises to be a very blissful and prosperous expo for all!
