Fields named new MadREP CEO
Jason Fields, a finance professional and outgoing Wisconsin state legislator, will begin serving as MadREP’s president and CEO on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.
The Madison Region Economic Partnership (MadREP) Board of Directors announced on Dec. 9 its selection of Jason M. Fields, CCRS, CFEI to succeed Paul Jadin, CEcD as president and CEO of the economic development organization.
Fields brings a background in finance and served for 12 years over two separate stints in the Wisconsin State Assembly representing Milwaukee in the 11th Assembly District. He will lead MadREP through completing Advance Now 2.0, the Madison region’s comprehensive economic development strategy.
“I, like so many other Wisconsinites, have enjoyed watching the Madison region’s growth these last several years,” says Fields. “It’s with great enthusiasm that I join the MadREP team to play a pivotal role in that evolution.”
Coming to Madison from Milwaukee, Fields says he brings a strong background in collaborating with individuals from a variety of backgrounds who want to reach the same goal. “My ability to get things done and focus on processes, innovation, and empowering people to leave a legacy is something that I am proud of. I commuted to work in Madison for years and the residents always made me feel like I belonged and was a member of the community. In fact, it was my experiences with the people in the Madison region that excited me about this opportunity.”
Fields believes dealing with COVID-19 and focusing on coming back strong are the most pressing concerns facing MadREP and Greater Madison as a whole right now. He notes that under his leadership, MadREP will continue to support the region’s growth by connecting businesses with the resources they need to stay open safely while continuing to prioritize and grow the local pool of skilled talent. “It’s important to me that the world sees our eight-county region as a place where they can thrive.
“I am looking forward to meeting great new people across the region, learning the history of the communities we serve, and continuing to raise our profile on the world stage,” Fields adds.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Jason to MadREP,” says Juli Aulik, MadREP board chair-elect and UW Health community affairs director. “His experience in business and finance, having started a venture capital fund, business consulting firm, and experience directly in the banking and securities industry, will be an asset to our organization.”
Fields is the founder and managing director of Dark Knight Capital Ventures, CEO of The Financial Promise Foundation Inc., and has previously served as a licensed branch manager, stockbroker, and investment banking associate.
“Jason will inherit a capable staff and an ambitious strategic plan to grow the region,” says retiring MadREP CEO Paul Jadin. “It’s been an honor to serve the region these last eight years and I look forward to watching it continue to flourish under Jason’s leadership.”
“I look forward to working with Jason and want to thank Paul Jadin for his work building an accomplished team and shepherding the Madison Region through the first Advance Now strategy,” adds Dan Brown, MadREP board chair and Ho Chunk Gaming Madison executive director.
Fields is wasting little time acclimating to his new community, noting his family is planning to move to the Madison region. “In fact, we’re looking at potential neighborhoods right now. I have amazing friends in the area who are helping with my transition and I’m looking forward to the opportunity spend more time with them when it’s safe to gather.”
