FEMA to begin storm damage assessment next week
On Sept. 24, the Federal Emergency Management Administration will begin to conduct a preliminary damage assessment in 17 Wisconsin counties, including Dane, affected by recent heavy rains, flooding, and tornadoes.
According to Gov. Scott Walker’s office, the assessment should be completed within one week after officials from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Wisconsin Emergency Management complete their inspection.
Thus far, local damage assessment shows $108 million in damage to residences, nearly $49 million in damage to businesses, and more than $75 million in damage to public infrastructure.
