FEMA funds to boost Alliant Energy Center vaccination site

The Alliant Energy Center will transform into Madison’s first COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic site with the help of funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 5, according to a statement from Gov. Tony Evers. In coordination with state and local partners, the site will support up to 1,400 vaccinations per day. Wisconsin has committed to providing up to 7,000 weekly first-dose vaccines to eligible persons from the state’s allocation for the site. The Alliant Energy Center has been providing weekly vaccinations since Dec. 29, 2020. With additional staff and federal support, the site will increase the capacity of vaccinations per week from 5,600 doses up to 7,700 doses.
