Evers signs bill formally legalizing children’s lemonade stands

Wisconsin children who want to run lemonade stands without a license can breathe a little easier today. Gov. Tony Evers has signed a bipartisan bill into law that allows anyone under age 18 to run a lemonade stand on private property without a permit, according to an article by the Associated Press.

Children also can operate their lemonade stands without fear of running afoul of the law, which actually has happened in some states.

However, the bill would limit sales to $2,000 of lemonade per year, which translates to 8,000 cups at 25 cents each.

Under the law, children would be barred from selling any potentially hazardous food, such as raw meat and egg salad.
