Evers announces over $20 million in tourism grants
Gov. Tony Evers announced $21.9 million in grants to 27 local governments and organizations across the state, including several in Dane County through the Tourism Capital Investment Grant Program for major tourism-related capital improvement projects. The projects aim to bolster Wisconsin’s tourism industry. Locally, the following organizations will receive grant awards:
- $3.2 million for Alliant Energy Center of Dane County to support significant upgrades to provide heating, cooling, and electrical, serving the year-round needs of cattle, horse, and other animal shows;
- $145,650 for the Olbrich Botanical Gardens to support a capital project to make the infrastructure more accessible for visitors of all abilities; and
- $187,465 for the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce to help in the renovation of its office building.
The Wisconsin Department of Administration administered the application process for the grants, which opened on Oct. 7, 2021, and closed on Nov. 19, 2021.
