Epic settles with former employees over wages
Verona-based Epic Systems agreed to pay $5.4 million to settle a lawsuit filed by former quality assurance employees who said they had not been paid overtime wages to which they were entitled.
At issue was the claim that Epic improperly classified the workers as exempt from overtime wages. Neither side agreed on that point.
Under the agreement, Epic does not admit to the allegations.
The suit was filed in December by one former employee, and 44 others later joined in. When the two sides agreed to conditionally certify the class, a class-action notice was mailed to a pool of just under 1,000 former and current quality assurance workers in May.
