Energizer-Spectrum deal approved

Federal regulators approved Middleton-based Spectrum Brands’ plan to sell its auto care division (including Armor All and STP brands) to Energizer, its competitor, for $1.25 billion. Earlier, Spectrum agreed to sell its legacy Rayovac battery division to Energizer for a possible $1.8 billion, in a deal also expected to close early in 2019.

With over 700 jobs around the state, many are awaiting word on whether or not the sale of Rayovac to Energizer will result in job losses, while no area jobs are expected to be lost as a result of Spectrum’s auto products unit, according to a Wisconsin State Journal article.
