DWD sends additional payments to 220,000 claimants

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development began sending payments retroactively to about 220,000 eligible claimants through the Lost Wages Assistance program, according to a report from Wisbusiness.com. The payments amount to an additional $300 per week and are estimated to total $224 million in assistance to Wisconsin’s unemployed workers.

The Trump administration launched the program in August after Congress and the White House couldn’t reach an agreement on the next round of stimulus spending.
