Downtown hotel proposal resurrected

After halting its plans for a hotel on the Pahl Tire site in downtown Madison, the North Central Group has come back with a revised proposal.  The Plan Commission voted down the previous hotel plans in October, but the latest iteration is receiving positive feedback, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The company wants to build a 10-story Marriott AC Hotel one block off the Capitol Square on the corner of North Webster Street and East Washington Avenue, and it has addressed many of the issues the city had initially raised.

The new design moves public spaces to the upper floors and addresses issues with valet parking and an easement along Webster Street. Meetings are being scheduled to begin the approval process.
