Didion Milling indicted in 2017 explosion

A federal lawsuit alleges Sun Prairie’s Didion Milling Inc. engaged in years of safety violations that caused the dust explosion that claimed five lives in 2017, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The company was charged with the federal crimes of knowingly engaging in years of safety violations that resulted in the killing of five workers and injuring 15 others in a dust explosion in Cambria on May 31, 2017. The indictment filed in federal court alleges nine crimes and states the company failed to keep up with required cleanings and covered that failure by forging documents, falsifying records, and back-dating or back-filing entries in a logbook. Didon called the charges unwarranted and said, “What happened on May 31, five years ago was a horrible accident, not a criminal act.”
