Development continues in Sun Prairie

The 110-acre Prairie Lakes development along Highway 151 in Sun Prairie could land a $24 million, 124-room Hilton Garden Inn that includes 9,500 square feet of much-needed meeting space and a Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse.

The proposal comes from Iowa-based hotel and development company, Heart of America, which is asking Sun Prairie for $4.1 million in TIF support.

Prairie Lakes is in a tax incremental finance district that is scheduled to close in 2027 according to the Wisconsin State Journal, and the development has attracted major retailers thus far, including Cabela’s, Costco, Woodman’s, and Target.

Heart of America would like to open by late 2018. More than 50 jobs would be created.
