Despite health concerns, project approved

The Madison Plan Commission unanimously approved a mixed-use project for 131 S. Fair Oaks Ave. in Madison, across from Madison-Kipp Corp.’s die-casting facility.

The U-shaped, five-story project will include 161 apartments and 11,000 square feet of retail space.

Questions still remain about the air quality surrounding the Madison-Kipp plant, but the project’s developer, Inventure Capital, conducted air quality studies that said the pollution around the site “equals about the amount caused by a passing vehicle,” according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
