DeForest day care under investigation

The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) is investigating a DeForest day care facility following an incident in February when two 2-year-olds left a classroom and were able to get outside, went through the playground, opened the gate, and proceeded to the road, according to a report from WMTV NBC-15.

Little University of Vienna day care self-reported the incident to the DCF, which noted in documents that the day care has already taken steps to improve the safety of children under its watch, including installing door alarms and child-proof door lever locks. It also has plans to install a self-closing and self-latching gate.

The day care has also been ordered to complete training on active supervision by July 1.
