Dane County's population grows to more than 500,000

Following a gain of 7,067 residents between 2011 and 2012, Dane County now has more than 500,000 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

It marks the first time that Dane County, the state’s second largest county in terms of population, has been over 500,000 residents. The county’s official population stood at 503,523 as of July 1, 2012, thanks in part to a healthy net migration of people domestically and internationally.
