Creating internships just got easier for startups

Talent Generator, a how-to guide for creating internships, is now available to startups and small businesses on the University of Wisconsin Systems’ Extended Campus website.

The guide, developed by the UW System in conjunction with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., offers tips, suggestions, and best practices for creating and maintaining internship programs for college students at small and medium-size companies.

According to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal, it was created with input from companies such as the Madison-based American Family Insurance to give smaller businesses a one-stop shop with step-by-step instructions on what is required to create internship programs.

UW System President Ray Cross notes the goal is to increase the odds every student in the state’s largest talent pipeline — the UW System — has an opportunity to secure an internship. "We know that every time a student secures an internship with a Wisconsin employer, the likelihood of them staying here increases," Cross said in a prepared statement.
