County struggling to afford Alliant expansion

Citing a financial shortfall, Dane County has asked two of three developers to further adapt plans for the roughly $600 million Alliant Energy Center expansion, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Even with scaled-back proposals, Dane County board members have identified a $100 million budget gap that would need to be filled by the county. The three submitted proposals for the first phase have already been revised to exclude the expansion of the Exhibition Hall which was originally intended for the first phase of the project.
