County resists call to fire zoo director even as zoo workers speak out

With more than half of Dane County’s Board of Supervisors calling on County Executive Joe Parisi to immediately fire the executive director of the Henry Vilas Zoo for misconduct, the county has so far responded with a resounding, “No,” according to a report from WKOW ABC-27.

Meanwhile, more staff members at the zoo, speaking anonymously, claim the director has tried to solicit them to speak out against claims she should be fired, and they fear retaliation from her if they don’t, something embattled zoo director Ronda Schwetz has been accused of in the past.

County Executive Joe Parisi has maintained his support for Schwetz throughout her time at the zoo.
