Council rejects $600,000 payment to JDS developer

The Madison City Council has rejected a motion to approve a $600,000 payment to Beitler Real Estate Services, the Chicago developer of the Judge Doyle Square project, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The payment was meant to resolve a legal dispute involving the $186 million redevelopment and was to be made in exchange for the city being explicitly granted the right to build and own a private portion of the project, which would include a hotel, apartments, retail, and commercial space.
