Council OKs liquor for 14 bars, Visions

The Madison City Council renewed liquor licenses for 14 downtown bars on the condition that no patrons will be allowed to enter or re-enter the establishments after 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. It is an expansion of efforts to reduce late night police calls and goes into effect July 1.

The Council also renewed the liquor license of Visions, Madison’s only strip club, after the Alcohol License and Review committee recommended the renewal based on the club’s beefed up security measures following a December fight the left four people shot and one stabbed. The city of Madison, however, is drafting a challenge to the license renewal.

In May, it was reported that Visions’ VP and secretary, David Brown, would become the new owner, and that he had plans to sell it to Silk Exotic, a strip club chain.
