Community art project will benefit Sun Prairie’s downtown

Sun Prairie will host a Community Art Making Project, selling flower cutouts for local residents to paint, carve, tile, or otherwise artistically decorate, according to the Sun Prairie Star. The goal of the project is to boost community engagement with the downtown area.

A total of 40 flower cutouts will be sold through the park and recreation office through June 30 or the Sun Prairie Farmers Market from June 3–17 between 7 a.m. and noon, as long as they are available. Availability will be updated online.

Once completed, the pieces will be showcased in the Cannery Square planters; a reception will be held for the artists on July 27 from 5–7 p.m. and the flowers will then go to auction online. Funds will benefit the nonprofit Downtown Sun Prairie Business Improvement District. Top bidders will receive the flowers on Aug. 21.
