Commercial pedal-cars can now allow beer
Now that Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill legalizing beer drinking on commercial quadricycles, Capitol Pedaler, a Madison business that operates a four-wheeled, 14-passenger vehicle powered by bike pedals, can invite passengers to enjoy a beer as they pedal through the downtown area. Previously, no alcoholic beverages were allowed. The quadricycle cannot sell beer and must stop operating by 10:30 p.m., but pedaling passengers will be allowed to drink up to 36 fluid ounces (about three beers) onboard, which they must provide themselves. The business started in 2011.
