City golf course task force approved

Golfers will have to wait for a decision on the future of Madison’s four public golf courses. The City Council approved a task force to study the financial future of the courses — Yahara Hills, Monona, Odana Hills, and Glenway. According to a Capital Times report, the task force has until May 1, 2020 to recommend possible solutions.

The courses were designed to be self-sustaining but in 2018 the Golf Enterprise Fund recorded its worst loss ever, a decline of $863,320, due in part to poor weather and fewer rounds booked. The courses also need between $6 million and $8 million in repairs.
