City extends citizenship award application deadline
The city of Madison announced it has extended the nomination deadline until Nov. 7 for the annual Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award. The award honors Jeffrey Clay Erlanger and recognizes Madison residents who share Jeff Erlanger’s dedication to, and passion for, public policy, civility, and individual and human rights. The recipient will be an individual who conducts their daily life with these values and who has made a significant impact on the Madison community. Among other requirements, a nominee must be an adult resident of the city of Madison, have demonstrated leadership in public advocacy, be focused on constructive civil debate, fairness, and openness, and have a dedication and commitment to treating people with civility, respect, and dignity. Current members of the city council, the award committee, city staff, and contractors are not eligible.
