City changes Public Market site

The Madison Public Market will return to the site originally proposed at the corner of North First Street and East Johnson after its development committee decided to renovate an existing city structure rather than build new.

After months of discussions and rising costs, the 45,000-square-foot Fleet Services building at 200 N. First St. will be re-purposed into the city’s new market, according to a story at Plans call for a large space for 40 or more permanent booths, outdoor market space, a food innovation center, flex space for public events, and a children’s and art space.
