Chamber launches Together Truax

As part of an initiative to support Madison’s 115th Fighter Wing’s status as finalist to receive an F-35A aircraft, the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce announced Together Truax.

The 115th is a wing of the Air National Guard. In December, the U.S. Air Force announced that the 115th is one of five finalist sites to receive the next-generation jets.

In addition to ongoing advocacy, the initiative includes a new website and social media pages to show community support of the 115th Fighter Wing as federal officials review the finalist sites, according to Chamber President Zach Brandon.

Brandon says the opportunity to have the F-35 at the base is base is both a national defense and economic opportunity, citing its $100 million in annual economic impact, the emergency response services it provides for Dane County Regional Airport, and the tuition assistance paid to colleges and universities for area students who serve in the Guard. The 115th Fighter Wing has 750 Guard members and provides employment to 450 area residents.

The Together Truax site will feature the latest news and frequently asked questions, as well as opportunities to sign up for updates and ways to contact elected representatives.
