Milwaukee-based CG Schmidt Construction has purchased an existing five-story office building at 433 W. Washington Ave. in Madison from Keller Real Estate Group and has already begun renovating it into its permanent Madison headquarters. When complete, the company will relocate from its current office at 10 W. Mifflin St.

Eric Schmidt, company SVP and owner, says, “We want to make the statement to our clients, partners, and the community as a whole that we are committed to being a Madison construction firm, being a Madison taxpayer, and that we are putting down permanent roots in Wisconsin’s capital city.”

The company is working with Kahler Slater Architects on the building’s new design, which should be completed by July 2020. It will occupy the top three floors of the 34,255-square-foot building and lease the bottom two floors to commercial and retail tenants.
