Calling all 40 Under 40 alumni!

From the pages of In Business magazine.

Sometimes, we marvel at how time flies. It’s hard to believe that this year marks the 19th 40 Under 40 class that we’ve had the privilege of honoring. Our very first class was unveiled in the 2002 Book of Lists (published in December ’01), and it included some very familiar names throughout this business community: Corey Chambas (First Business Bank), Bob Sorge (Madison Community Foundation), Sean Cleary (Cleary Building Corp.), and Andrew Sewell (Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra).

As we prepare to head into our 20th year in 2020, we’re excited to announce that IB is planning a new event later this year (in November) for all 40 under 40 alumni. This will be an exclusive, invitation-only event just for past 40 under 40 honorees and a great opportunity for us to connect members of these past classes.

A few punches of the calculator will tell you that we have 760 (19 classes x 40 names per class) individuals that we’ve recognized, which means that we have a lot of names to track down over the next few months. We’ve kept in close contact with many of these honorees, but we know there are plenty of names that have fallen off of our radar. So, we need to hear from you, our past 40 under 40 honorees.

On our website, we’ve created a page ( where we’ve listed all of the past classes, and we’ve also got a quick form for past honorees to submit their current contact information. If you are unsure of whether you were a member of one of those earlier classes (it wasn’t quite as notable an honor in the early years), please check out the website and look through all of the names. We encourage all past honorees to fill out the online contact form, just to ensure that we have your updated contact information and can get you all of the details about the big alumni event coming in November.

In addition, if there are names on any of the class lists that you know have moved away, feel free to email me directly at with that information and I’ll make sure we update our database accordingly. We hope to bring together as many of the 760 alumni as we can this November, so your assistance in the communication process is greatly appreciated!
