Businesses, organizations back community solar

A group of business, health, and renewable energy organizations has formed a coalition to lobby in support of expanded access to solar energy, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. A Republican bill that would allow businesses and residents to invest in community solar is supported by the Wisconsin Community Solar Economic Alliance. Community solar is a way to access the environmental and economic benefits of renewable energy by purchasing shares in a solar facility that sells electricity to the local utility. The utility then credits customers for their portion of the energy produced. The coalition includes Renew Wisconsin, Wisconsin Conservative Energy Forum, Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Grocers Association, Organic Valley, and Advocate Aurora Health.
