Brothers to open Fratelli’s Trattoria in Monona

A new Italian restaurant, Fratelli’s Trattoria, is set to fill the Monona spot previously occupied by Angelo’s for 30 years, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

The restaurant’s owners, brothers Joaquin and Sergio Lopez, hope to open by the second week of May. Joaquin is the former head chef and co-owner of Nonno’s Ristorante Italiano, and Sergio was executive chef at the former Francesca’s al Lago as well as the main chef at 1847 at the Stamm House.

Fratelli’s will be open for lunch and dinner. Its Italian cuisine options will include pastas, steak, seafood, chicken, and pork dishes in addition to beer, wine, and cocktails.

The restaurant is located at 5801 Monona Drive; it is planned to be open Sunday–Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
