Brookings Institute: Madison No. 10
The Madison metropolitan area ranked No. 10 in the Brookings Institution’s November 2017 report titled, “Digitalization and the American Workforce.”
Of the top 100 metro areas nationwide ranked for the number of computer-oriented jobs and adapting to digitalization in the workplace, Madison bested cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, and Washington, D.C. and was the only Midwest city appearing in the top 20.
The top five metropolitan areas on the list include: San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif.; Boston-Cambridge-Newton, Mass.-N.H.; Austin-Round Rock, Texas; Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford, Conn.; and Salt Lake City, Utah. Milwaukee came in at No. 61.
