Border wall funds return to Truax Field

Madison’s Truax Field will recoup an estimated $10 million in federal funds that were earmarked two years ago to help pay for border barriers between the U.S. and Mexico, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The funds were originally diverted by former President Donald Trump, but the Biden administration, in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, announced that the funds will be returned. Funds to Wisconsin for the construction of a small arms weapons range at the 115th Fighter Wing’s Truax Field is part of more than $2 billion in remaining military construction funds that will be returned to 66 projects across 11 states, three territories, and 16 countries.
