Blank to leave UW for Northwestern

Chancellor Rebecca Blank, after serving at the University of Wisconsin–Madison for nine years, will leave at the end of the 2021–2022 school year for Northwestern University. Blank, who will serve as the first female president at Northwestern, is the second-longest serving UW chancellor since Irving Shain, who retired in 1986. Leaders weighed in on her service to Madison and the university. Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce President Zach Brandon said, “As an economist and former U.S. Commerce Secretary, she brought tremendous insight to understanding and engaging with the business community.”
