Biden to tout economic progress in visit to Madison

After he delivers the State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Joe Biden will visit the Madison area, according to an announcement by the White House. Biden will visit the region on Wednesday to tout the results of his economic plan, which includes the most recent monthly jobs report released on Feb. 3. The job report indicates the American economy created a surprising 517,000 jobs in January, with job growth in most industry categories. Monthly job creation exceeded the expectations of economists who have been predicting a recession in the second half of 2023 due to a series of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve that are designed to bring down inflation.

The president’s Wisconsin stop is part of a nationwide tour featuring Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and various cabinet members.
